I was cruising on Instagram and ad for Centro Romero’s 5 K run popped up. I started reading and I thought it was cool. I didn’t know what a 5 k was in terms of distance.  It’s only 3.1 miles! My son kept telling me that I could do it since I run about a 6 k round trip on the trail, but I’ve never run nonstop.
 
I went in person to Centro Romero to inquire more about the run and then signed up on the spot.

It is a Run or Walk 5k race that empowers and celebrates women in the community. 
Mujeres on the Run (women on the run) fosters running as way to stay healthy, fit, and build positive relationships.  This event is open to everyone regardless of gender, everyone is welcome to run or walk for Centro Romero.  

I looked at it as a challenge. In my mind I wanted to do something to push myself out of my comfort zone. I wanted to do something inspiring. Its not about winning the race, its about encouraging me to feel better, feel accomplished, and practice wellness. I have never  done something like this before, and I was excited. I started my running journey in July. I took pictures of myself at the beginning and end of my run to chronicle my progress.

The funding from this event will support programs at Centro Romero including leadership, civic participation, domestic violence prevention, English and GED classes, immigration services, and after school programs.

I never liked beauty shop sitting. Then I began to go to Hair Base; suddenly that all changed.
I am greeted like a friend and feel valued! Grace Senior and Junior are most gracious. Barb, Cosette, Theresa and Zeena  are always pleasant and welcoming.
After I grumbled about manicures, Erika gave me beautiful even nails which got compliments.
As for Robin: there are many words to describe how good she is. I always get compliments on her styling my hair. She is flexible, friendly, accommodating and has a great eye for style.
Hair Base is a wonderful place.It is like "Cheers" on t.v. minus the liquor.  Long may you stay!

I have had the utmost pleasure of having Teresa take care of me for 13 years. She helps me mostly with my eyebrow up keep, occasional hair cut and coloring in the past. Most recently ,I had the eyelash lift ,and it was explained and performed well. It lasted a good 2 months. I feel as if I am visiting and old friend every time I come in to see Teresa. We go to all lengths to get thick lustrous eyelashes, possibly try all types of different mascaras, curl tools, fake eyelashes, lash tinting, eyelash extensions and more. What are the different options and what works best for you? 

Lash Lift
What’s a lash lift? Lash lifts are one of the latest techniques and are also described as a perm for your lashes. The process takes about an hour and lasts up to about 8 weeks. Unlike the extension, the process uses just your lashes. The lashes are softened and reset with an upward, soft “C” shape. In addition, eyelash color can be added to the service to darken light eyelashes. Imagine, eyelashes are perfect all day and will stay beautifully shaped even when wet. No mascara needed, but if you want a want to add a little more volume, enhance them, be dramatic for a night out or special occasion – yes you can apply mascara on these beautiful lashes! 
 
Lash Tinting

Extensions
Individual Lash Extensions can be made of a variety of synthetic, as well as natural, materials. At Hair Base Salon & spa we work with 5 different lash types. The success of an extension service depends on several factors: The technicians that perform the service, the length and strength of your lashes, and the selection of the most appropriate lash material for your individual needs. Our trained technicians will do just that. Select lashes are individually bonded onto your natural lashes with a medical grade adhesive. They can last for six to eight weeks and fall out naturally like a regular lash. We recommend scheduling an exam with one of our trained technicians to determine length, type, and size for your lashes. If you are hesitant or curious – we offer a trial run. For a modest fee, we can put a few lashes on the outside corners of your eyelashes and you can test them out before committing to the complete service. 
 
Flare and Strip Eyelashes
Flare individual lash clusters are permanently curled, waterproof, and a quick way to get a dramatic look. They are generally half the price of individual eyelash extensions and will last a few days. Great for a weekend of social activities.
 
Strip lashes have been around for a solid century. During the 1920s strip lashes became a popular fashion trend, and today they come in a variety of lengths, materials and densities. With strip lashes you can add a small amount of volume or go crazy with a dramatic look.  This is a great way to dress up your eyes for that special night out on a budget.
 
Mascara
Mascara has been around since the Egyptians; however, our current use of mascara began with cake mascara in 1917. The purpose of mascara and all these other techniques is to enhance the eyes, bringing the focus to one of the most expressive elements of our faces. 
 
We carry Blinc, (normal and amplified formulas) and Papillonwhich was specifically created for eyelash extensions. Blincmascara is designed to encase each lash in a water-proof tube to add volume and length without running, smudging, clumping or flaking…The number one recommended mascara for brides. No eye makeup remover needed. It is easily and cleanly removed with warm water and gentle pressure. 
 
Keeping You Current!

I will start with the basics – ONE HOUR of relaxation. To start – imagine sitting in a comfortable chair, your feet in bubbling soothing warm water. Your whole body begins to relax, then a foot is gently lifted out of the water and is scrubbed with a soft scrunchy thing, massaged with oils, then put back into the warm bubbling water while the other foot receives the same treatment.

Then your legs are massaged again with lotion and wrapped in warm towels while your toe nails are carefully trimmed. One foot is in the soothing water while the other foot is being treated!
